Husband wasn't joking when he said "Ask my chiropractor." It's a genuine pain in the neck!

The spacing of the park brake pads seems to be the critical part of getting the fingers to just fall in. The closer you have them to the width of the rotor the easier fitting will be. That's what the stubby screwdriver was for, adjusting the Gross Adjustment screw, Just a Smidge, until they fell in.

We thought probably 30 years experience doing this, knowing by braille what was going on and where everything was, probably all contributed to a mere 2-hour job in Maury's shop.

But when you've finished, you'll also be able to say, "I've done that and I hope never to do it again!"

I had a thought when waking early this morning about the driver side caliper; The one thing that might make the finger holes that far off is if one of the P brake halves is not under the bolt hole in the main caliper but to the outside of it spreading the halves apart at the finger holes – might also explain the slight fore/aft misalignment.

My hands were still cramping a bit this morning and my neck is still stiff, so I am going to give them another day to recover and see if I can get someone to open the shop Monday to go at it again - trying to get it ready to drive (and not trailer it) to our Club's Brits in the Ozarks car show this coming weekend.

Old age is definitely not for sissies nor are old Jaguars with stuck rear calipers, although unfortunately I also have an 87 XJ6 that my former British "mechanic" twisted off the bleeder on the left rear caliper and it drags too. Maybe someday after the memory of this pain subsides a bit (or a lot) I'll consider it again, but probably not too soon.
