Bought a 1992 Jag to help young man with education costs. Drives great, excellent body condition - but I have to unhook battery each time as security system flashes constantly if I don't. Took it to a local repair shop who has had it 3 months and then mechanic told me "he gave up" looking for problem. Should it not be a matter of simply resetting security system? How do I do that? I am a over 50 age woman who knows almost nothing about mechanical! Seeking advise on this matter.

this forum is for the 1968 thru 1987 XJ-6 even though a 12 cylinder version was made until 1992, it is not the same car you have. Those did not have factory security systems.

Sounds like you have a 1992 XJ-40. Try asking the question in the XJ-40 forum.

otherwise see if you can post a photo of the car to confirm the model.
