Default in search of Series 3 XJ12 ECU

Hi everybody!
My kitty is being finicky!
After sitting for the past 3 months not going anywhere; the the XJ12's ECU decided to decided to stop working
I'm in search of a DAC 4585 ECU if anyone might know of one available.
I've had the exact same unit off a running XJ12 and it works great (took it out for a spin).
Unfortunately, the ECU from my '86 & '87 XJS is not compatible (runs like its missing)
Perhaps an '89 XJS's might work? I haven't been able to locate one to try.
If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
Peter

A quick search of the internet turns up loads of ECU repair shops, so you just have to find one near your home. Whether the components in a 1988 box will still be available for a repair shop to use to repair your box is another matter.

Thank you for your suggestion.
It's sad, most shops I spoke to can't figure out these old components anymore and the quotes they gave me were hilarious.
I was planning on a pair of large butterflies from AJ6 (I already have them) and will likely buy an enhanced ECU but was hoping to just get it running for now, hence a used one would do just fine.
Will keep looking
Cheers

I was gonna suggest AJ6 engineering as a go-to-place for ECU repairs. Since they recalibrate and modify them I have to think they can repair a broken one back to original specs. But...since you contemplating a Superenhanced ECU anyway.....?

Cheers

Remove the board and check the base of the earth pins for cracks. They were prone to cracking from vibration and this caused all sorts of problems with my XJ6.
There were some exchange services available.

Hey Cowboy:

I didn't realize you lived in Toronto. I visited your Garage here on JagForums and I thought WOW this is a real Jaguar guy!
You have a "Grand Touring" plate frame (and so does one of my cars BTW)
I would not be surprised if you were within 15 minutes drive from my home.

I also see you got the ECU problem solved before I even knew the problem existed.

I have a couple of extra ECU's in my shop and one still in a parts car, so NOW I tell you eh?
I would be curious to know who you got yours from as the Jaguar world is a very small world even in a big place like T.O. Odds are I have dealt with them at some point but still maybe it would be a good new source for me.

I would like to know about your adventures with the enhanced ECU as you get it and install it.

By the way You should for sure come to the Jaguar concours and you should also consider joining Spitfire and I in the OJOA.

Ontario Jaguar Owners Association Online

Klik on the link to find out about it.
If you come I will be one of the concours judges so I will be-
A: busy after lunch when judging starts
B: Easy to find otherwise, just ask "Who owns that BEAUTIFUL '62 MK 10?

I am on the website as is "MrsV12" if you check out last years concours pics you can guess at who we are.
LOL

Very Cool Cowboy.
Hope to meet you soon.

Hi V12,
Thank you for visiting my garage
Its been rather hectic lately & I haven't been keeping up.
Especially trying to meet up in Woodbridge.
So I've finally put the right rims on to the right cat and took the pics this weekend.
I joined the OJOA back in '94 but for many reasons for shortage of time I didn't continue on.
Well, I'm here now and looking forward to having some fun
I didn't realize the concourse is so soon, I'll definitely be there (as a spectator)
I'm downtown by the Eaton Centre so its a 15min buzz up the road to the Science Centre. So I look forward to meeting you, MrsV12 & Spitfire.
I picked up an ECU from a fellow breaking a VDP (he wanted the rear end for his hot rod project) and the poor thing was not running & badly neglected for years.
I also picked up from the UK, an old ('82) custom enhancement adapter by AJ6 engineering to fit ahead of the regular ecu for my XJS project. Will see if it will solve the breathing issue.
Its becoming a habit to accumulate spare parts My wife laughs!
Will send you a PM & touch base soon!
Cheers
Peter
