Series 2 LSD oil
Hi I have a 1975 series 2 and looks like ive got an LSD. Jack it up rotate one side forward and the other side goes forward as well. Can I ask what oil I should use in it? Like everything else on this new (to me) car Ill have to assume the previous owners have conducted some poor maintenance even if they have done well. Best to be on the safe side.
Nothing exotic required. I'm not sure what brands are available in your area.
I use any name brand 80/90 gear oil and add a limited-slip additive. Some gear oils are already limited-slip ready and say so on the label

Cheers

Probably not. Very few six cylinder cars have it.
LSD was standard on V12 cars. As far as I know it was always optional equipment on sic cylinder cars

Yes. The Sovereign had LSD, the XJ6 did not. All Canadian V12 cars had LSD.
To confirm, under one of the bolts that hold the rear cover on should be 2 tags. One for the gear ratio and the other will have PL for power Lock, i.e. limited slip.

Thanks to all who responded to my Sovereign LSD question. Sounds like I need to crawl under the car and check for those tags. Unfortunately it is +3 deg. C or 37.5deg. F in ny garage, so that check is now on hold for a bit.
As an aside, is it detrimental to use an LSD designed gear oil in a non-LSD unit?
