Default series 2 vdp. worth the search?

I have convinced myself ( and her indoors) that i need a series 2 Daimler vanden plas to restore and make my own. Reason being the first jaguar i ever drove was one and i prefer the lines to my series 3. I really want a vanden plas because of the rarity and slightly better spec, but seeing as Ireland is detached from most civilizations it is a chore to locate one, plus they dont appear to be all that popular. I can however locate a few standard series 2 cars and could probably make a vanden plas clone. Should i do this or hold out however long it takes? While im here, anyone got one in need of a home, Ireland or uk?

any Daimler Jaguar variant is worth the search. What you can do is to try and find out to which "market" (country or local area) most of those models were shipped to and sold, then concentrate your search there.

you might start by contacting the JDHT (Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust) to see if they can help. click on the link: Jaguar Heritage

My car is SII which was "restored/upgraded" inside and out to SIII VDP.
However, that was 20 years ago and the PO spent an Enormous amount of money even for the time. I have receipts to prove it.

All things considered, for example the age of these cars, their tenancy to dissolve into a pile of rust if no Pro Active stance is taken and even then it's not a guarantee, and the increasing cost of materials, you might want to make one yourself.

Of course, that requires a boat load of cash no matter what (leather and burl wood are kind of spendy), and many hundreds or hours to complete, but that may be the only way you get to have one.
