Series 3 furry mats
The OEM's for these were Easirider ( https://www.easirider.com/lambswool-over-rugs/ ) and Autostyle ( https://www.autostyle.co.uk/sheepskin-car-mats.asp ) in the UK.
Not cheap so be certain you really want them. I've had sets in two Bentley's and they spent my entire ownership stored in the boot.

It is correct that the fleece overmats are for the passenger positions only - none for the driver. There were at least two different types, the early one being a truly horrible goat-hair-like, long filament mat. Jaguar came to its collective sense and changed this to a shorter pile, very dense, much softer and much nicer mat around 1986, definitely by 87.
That rather depends on where you are. I assumed Scotland but your IP Address suggests Victoria, Australia.

It seems they would only be useful for a show car and even that would be questionable where I live.

I have them in the back of my 2007 Vanden Plas long wheelbase. Guests get in the back seat, take their shoes off and wiggle their toes in the softness. Nothing more luxurious. I don't use them in the front seats for the issues with dirt that have been mentioned.
