I assuming there is a difference between Series 1 and Series 2-3?
I believe it is the same boss as for a Series 2 and 3, but if not, the splined shaft is the same as for a MK-2 / S type, 420, or 420G / MK-X.

The differences are in the positions of the screw holes for the particular steering wheel that you are buying, so in other words, the steering wheel seller should have the correct boss for the steering wheel AND for the car.

You might check with Moss Motors UK or USA, since they sell steering wheels for Jaguar and obviously should have the boss.

if not, check with British Autowood in Florida, he sells steering wheels for Jaguar too.

you can measure the width of the splined shaft from one spline at 12:00 o'clock to the other spline at 6:00 o'clock using a caliper measuring tool, that way you can arm yourself with the correct info. when ordering the boss.

Our 1999 Mazda MX-5 Miata has a stock Nardi wheel with airbag, no wood though.... ;-)

Thanks Jose, i checked the Moss Motors UK website and they list two different part numbers for Series 1 (inc 420, XKE and Mark II) and another for Series 2-3. So they're obviously different.

that's what I was thinking, it was either or.

but the steering wheel screw holes, where the steering wheel is bolted to the boss, need to match the boss.

some bosses have 5 screw holes, some have 6, so the spacing from screw to screw is different.
