I need to buy a spigot plate for the starter on my 1987 XJ6 with the 4.2 l engine. Does anyone have one for sale?

Also, what starter would be a good replacement for the O.E.M. starter on this car? I am thinking about a smaller, faster unit that pulls less current.

I think most of the usual Jaguar parts suppliers sell a smaller, gear-reduction type starter. Try Motorcars Ltd. If they don't sell 'em, try Coventry West.

You can use an XJ40 starter. We have them used for $125. They are great little units and seldom fail.

 

Hey, cool. Good tip. Are the XJ40 starters reduction gear type? Or are they just small conventional starters?
