Like everyone else we are on lockdown but, as Jose said, the Jaguars don't get (or carry) the virus so today I got two of them uncovered, charged up, tires inflated, etc and went for a brisk ride on the surrounding country roads. A ray of sunshine in an otherwise crazy world.
This winter I was able to spend some time detailing the engine. Lots of time but not much money if you don't count all the paper towels I used. Photos below.
I have entered an ad in the Marketplace section of the Forum for the Artic Blue '87 if anyone is interested. Here are two small videos I made for the marketing effort.
Beautiful car, Jeff!
And, that's a Capital idea to just go for a drive. Gas is as low as it's been in Years. All pumps in these parts are card activated anyway, so there's no personal contact.
I think I'll clean Nix and take her for a spin.

Ah, yes, my car's engine bay looked that way, quite a spell ago!! Clean, but not as clean as that one. I liked it as it was! alas, it was not to remain so.
But, I do enjoy it as it now is. Clean, aye, But "different.
Jose: the voltmeter in my car works ! But, lazy and I think a bit short of the real numbers. I have a plug in for my hand held VOM and plug it in at times just to see the real numbers in real time.
I'm stuck in the house. No Jaguar drives. Coming home on a flat bed would violate the social distance rule. Kid's orders !!!!!
Alas, just before the lockdown I tanked up both cars!!
!
No matter that it cranks and fires quickly every other day or so, just for the "heck of it"

Landscapers around here are not supposed to be out doing their work. Some on a neighborhood blog fuss. Why? Beats me. Can't see any liklihood of virus swappng???
The same opponents of mow and blow, I think!!
Well, when it gets just about 5 degrees F warmer, I can play n my shop. t
Thanks for the compliments, my friends. Stay safe everyone. Summer is coming and if we all do our part we will all be out there smiling and enjoying our cars with our friends and family in a bit.
Carl, did you see the video and the voltmeter moving steady up?
mine is very slow and sometimes I have to tap the glass to get it to move and then it jumps near 13v but never reaches the mark.
heck if it's not the slow wipers it's the slow gauges.
compared to the '65 S type, where the wipers are very fast and the gauges respond inmediately, these older XJ-6 can be dissapointing. It's no wonder Jaguar Cars' reputation went downhill after the XJ was introduced. They had plenty of time to fix things since the XJ started getting developed around 1964. Took John Egan to fix the problems in the 1980s.

I and most of my colleagues continue to work. Yes, we do have our opponents who complain about noise, but those same people complain even more bitterly when their neighbors' properties are not kept neat as a pin. For some reason they want it both ways.
Most of my customers are retired/elderly and so are unable to keep up their own places. Recently I have begun wearing a mask, a bit of a pain actually as it makes breathing harder, but it makes others far less tense, and I ditch it soon as I'm back in the truck anyway and put it on at the next job. My work is customer satisfaction, that's what they pay me for.
However, Butte County, where my work is, recently instituted a Tattle-tail Line for people to call in and report what they feel is inappropriate activity, businesses open they feel should not be, that sort of thing. I have had some personal complaints in the past for stirring up dust, not because I'm working. I always tell the complainers to talk to my employer. I'll stop coming when they fire me.
Tehama County still has only one case of Covid-19, been only one for over a week. Even so, I'm gradually seeing more masks among the few who are out and about out here in the Stix. Some masks are quite creative and decorative as people are bored stiff and have to do something to stay sane (I'm Very fortunate in that, I can work off a Lot of anxiety; won't talk about insanity). I'm thinking there might be a MASKS department in the fabric store like there has been a QUILTING department -- IF the fabric store is even open which I doubt.
