Default swap s1 rack into s2?

Are the series one racks interchangeable with the series 2? In my case a 1971 s1 and a 1975 s2

The tall tower racks are the same except for the Ratio. My understanding this that the S1 rack had a lower steering ratio. But who knows what you actually have... it's possible the S1 rack you have was swapped for an S2 at some point in the last 50 years, Get a look at the part numbers to be sure.

If you swap in a S2 short rack, you will need the hoes from the short as well.

The S1 rack as hoses that wrap around and enter from the rear, whereas the short rack's hose goes straight in from the front.

I'm sure you know already you'll need the lower column to match.
