Default S2 Rear Bumper Interchangability with S1 (not front)

I have a 79 XJ6 and I am in the process of doing a euro chrome bumper swap. I have ordered the front hppd hinges that will accomodate Series 2 euro chrome bumpers.

For the rears it appears its easier to install euro bumpers as not much modification is needed. Locally I came across an ad selling Series 1 rear bumper. Now its been asked and answered that the ssries 1 front bumpers would not fit given the obvious redesign hence why I am going for a series 2 euro bumper.

However can anyone confirm if a series 1 rear chrome bumper would fit a series 2? The series 1 and series 2 (euro bumpers without the rubber) appear to be very similar and the rear of the car was not redesigned like the front in series 1 vs 2.

From memory, HA, so grab a beer and THINK about my scribe, please.

S1 had the Number Plate lamp/s IN the bumper. S2 had them on the underside the boot lid plynth.

Thats ALL I remember, and YES, I also believe the rear bodywork was unchanged.

I believe North American Series 2 cars were fitted with an energy absorption beam which may present difficulties when swapping bumpers viz, Series 1 to Series 2.
But I could be wrong.
Again.

I have sold my S2, but I picked up a front and rear set of S1 bumpers last winter to attempt a conversion.

The rear bumpers looked like they would fit the car, but one would need to have some fabrication skills to mount the S1 bumpers to the S2 car. Seeing as how the front S1 bumpers were not going to fit, I didn't bother with the rear.
