Tail light colors
As I surf the web I see some series 1 with red/amber tail lights - Is it supposed to be Amber for turning and Red for braking ? ....and, are the cars set up this way or do the bulb sockets need to be reversed ? My thanks to all who respond !

yes amber for turning and red for brakes. My observations show that some tail lenses are molded all amber have a red filter on the bottom half for the braking and some are molded with the bottom 1/2 red and the top 1/2 amber.
I like the all red lenses... bulbs do not have to be changed. Side lights and rear reflectors have also been removed...
Used to have Red/Amber lenses - seems to be no knowledge of correct lenses required by the police for older foreign cars?

in accordance with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 108, and the NHTSA, you can have red or amber rear turn signals. The NHTSA is looking at regulating that all turn signals are amber for all new cars being produced as they have been proven to be more effective in alerting people when you are changing lanes....if you use them!
I personally like the look of red stop and orange turn, i have 2 sets of reds. i also really want the clear and amber lenses for the front.

Smith,
here's my S type, yes you should buy one.
they have the same rear suspension as the XJ-6, the ride is a little stiffer than the XJ-6, brakes are the same as the XJ-6, otherwise very simple electronics and engine systems.
and the Wipers are better than the XJ-6 wipers. The wiper motor even has a little knob that lets you fine-tune where the wipers park. Also you can start the engine from the engine compartment!
