Default Transmission safety lock?

So I have encountered a unique problem with the Jag today. I pulled it into the garage and turned off the car. I realized that I pulled to far forward so I put the transmission in neutral to roll back a little (without starting the car). Later on I went to start the car and all I got was the starter solenoid clicking. I tried starting in Park and Neutral and I got the same results.

My guess was that the transmission is thinking that it is in gear perhaps and isnt starting.

I checked the battery and its fully charged. I put it on the charger last night just to be sure and it has loads of juice.

This one has me a bit stumped.

Double check the battery by using a volt meter to watch the voltage when you turn the key to START position. It should stay well above 9.6 volts if the battery has loads of juice. If the starter just clicks, take a look at the cable connections to the starter, the battery cables, and the ground cable that connects the engine to the frame on the passenger side under the car. You should be able to measure battery voltage at the cables on the starter when the key is turned to START position. The starter may have just taken a dump. It could have seized or frozen up so it can't turn.

If the starter is clicking, then there is no transmission interlock stopping it. The solenoid part of the starter requires much less juice than the cranking of the motor. So, an old battery will sometimes act like it is charged, but not have enough true cranking power. The voltage will drop way low when you try to crank the engine.

Well I got it all to work out. Turns out my ground line underneath was frayed, and I suppose it was just a matter of time before it didnt work anymore
