What is the correct part number for this type of power steering hoses?
Hello all,
I'm having trouble with an oil leak from the power steering hose of my Sr. 3 1991 Daimler Double Six (VIN: SAJDDALW3CM484208, Right hand drive). I looked up the part numbers on Jaguar Classic Parts website, and I obtained the high-pressure hose ”CAC3654” and low-pressure hose ”C45906” from local parts distributor.
Unfortunately, those parts don't fit as they are different shape. Not only was the length of the metal section of the pipe different, but the hose's bend points were also different.
My car was directly imported from Europe, therefore it is not Japan spec. I assumed EU spec parts (above) would fit, but my assumption was wrong!
Attached photo are currently installed hoses. Only the high-pressure hose is leaking badly, but I want to replace all hoses this time. Does anyone have any suggestions which part number hose I should get after looking at these photographs?
Any suggestions are highly appreciated!
Thank you for help and best regards,

The JCP site for the later XJS models is confusing; but these cars used the ZF rack and the hoses are different (see link below). The hose part numbers you mention are the same as for the AdWest rack on the earlier XJSs. If your car has had a ZF rack fitted (either by a previous owner, or at the factory) then your hoses will be the ones for the later XJS models, as shown here:
Site link: https://parts.jaguarlandroverclassic.../brand/jaguar/
I suggest that you post a photo of your rack so what make it is can be positively identified. Once known, then it would be worth contacting Jack Weston at David Manners to ask him if he has the correct hoses for that make on a RHD V12.

Otherwise:
The very best option is to remove your leaking hose and take it to an hydraulic hose repairer and ask them to fit new flexibles to your old steel parts.

G’day Kenichi,
I can’t help you with the part number but I had my oil cooler hoses re-hosed at a local hydraulics workshop after one of them had burst and I have had no trouble with them for over 15 years.
if you can’t find the correct hoses for your car then you might consider this.
Cheers,
Jeff.
P.S. I see Greg just made the same suggestion. 👍

Hi Greg and Jeff,
Thank you very much for useful suggestions.
I jacked up the car and checked the part number on the power steering rack. A metal plate clearly printed with the ZF logo and part number MHD3890AA was attached to the rack. Clearly, a ZF-manufactured rack is installed on my car. That means the high-pressure hose should be CBC9148 and the low-pressure hose CBC9404. Indeed, the high-pressure hose does resemble the shape of CBC9148. I haven't been able to remove the low-pressure hose yet, so I'll compare the shapes once I do. I recently got some help from Jack at David Manners Group. He was very kind and gave me useful suggestions. I'll try contacting him again.

These very decent firms seem to have one:
These guys say they have a genuine OEM one which would be the best option (the link may be out of date of course, I would telephone and ask them if they really do have it):
https://www.normanmotorsltd.com/cbc9...se-10100-p.asp
Manners have an aftermarket one:
https://jagspares.co.uk/high-pressur...-xjs-cbc9148-3
Lots of the low pressure return hoses out there.
As Watto and I mentioned; if no new ones are available, then i am sure you can find a plac to replace the flexibles for you.
