Thank you Elinor, I also got Series 2 XJ-6 parts. I have to do inventory, 6 tubs full of Series 2 and 3 parts, heck I don't know what's in those tubs, I only looked at the surface.
going to try the steering wheel in the S type, I've wanted a 15-1/2" wheel for a long time, this one is just 1/4" larger, not much difference.

I will check and if I have it you can have it. But curiously, I did see a Series 2 upper Nacelle Half, (the upper half of the steering column cover). It is a lot nicer, with an "ear" that reads "HAZARD", and the Series 3 does not have that.
Unfortunately, the cutout for the hazard switch in the Series 2 is in a different position than the Series 3, closer to the Turn Signal Stalk switch, so i don't think it would fit the Series 3. otherwise identical.

I have the same steering wheel on my SIII and love it. Nice overall diameter and rim thickness. I believe they came on the 1989 XJS and the 1992 Series III V12 models. They pop up on ebay. The swap is pretty easy as I recall, 10 minute job.

there's nothing to swapping steering wheels in the Series 3 XJ-6:
Park the car with front wheels straight ahead;
remove the two screws on the back of the horn spokes,
pull the horn cover,
remove the plastic Horn Contact carefully, they do break,
loosen the center nut almost to the end, then wiggle the steering wheel side to side carefully until it comes off the Spline and is stopped by the nut. Otherwise it can hit you in the face, ask me how I know. If it refuses to come off, spray a little PB Blaster on the spline, wait 5 minutes and try again. Keep that nut on the spline otherwise you will smell like PB Blaster for a week!!
then remove the nut and pull it off.
mount the XJ-S steering wheel, tighten the nut, tighten the Horn Contact by HAND ONLY, then put the horn cover on with the two screws from the back.
I think the Spline is the same all the way back to 1960s., so any Jaguar steering wheel might fit any Jaguar until the XJ-40 of 1988, when everything was screwed up.

That wheel was 1989-only for the XJS and, as someone mentioned, was also used on some very late Series III V12s.
Earlier XJSs used the same steering wheel typically seen on Series IIIs.

if that's not it, let me know.

weird, because I pulled lots of parts from a 1986 XJ-S V12 Coupe and it had one of those wheels but it was in such bad shape that I passed on it.

This wheel, so much better in every way than the original xj6 wheel, was used on the Series III V12 cars from 1990 to 1992 inclusive. These V12 cars (Daimler and Jaguar versions but only the Jaguar-badged cars had this improved wheel) were sold only in the U.K., Germany, Canada and Japan. The wheel is a straight fit to any Series XJ with no modifications needed.

I'm torn between putting it in my Daimler S type or the XJ.
