Will not start
Whew!! CSI removed from the intake. That translates to a good sized
vacuum leak. Added air. Enables an over fueled engine to run sorta.
Why:
1. Yeah, the ECU is back into suspicion. Cop talk, ... of interest.
2. Intake air o'wise restricted.
Forget it and enjoy your vacation. it will be there when you return.

Carl I want to thank you for you input. I had both front injectors out to check if they we spraying fuel and with both out the car started and ran poorly. So I am still confused on what to do next when I get back from New Mexico in 2 weeks. Jerry
I'd run with the idea the engine is being over-fueled and methodically chase down possibilities until you find the fault or eliminate over-fueling as an issue.
(Are the spark plugs wet? That would tend to confirm over-fueling....but after so many no start attempts they'd probably be wet anyway, no matter what the cause)
The AFM is the main input to the ECU for mixture control. Replace with know good unit; not very expensive used
The ECU is faulty and causing over-fueling due to some internal fault. Replace with know good unit; not very expensive used
The coolant temp sensor is a big player in fueling on a cold engine but not a warm engine....unless of course it is defective. Unplug the sensor and use a paperclip to jump the terminals inside the connector. Any change?
The oxygen sensor is a trimming device that helps control fueling. You could unplug it and see what happens. The ECU will see this as 'open loop' operation and use a pre-determined 'map' to fuel the engine. Neither too rich not too lean.
Shorted wiring could cause the injectors to stay open and over fuel.
Injectors (one, a couple, all) could be stuck open due to deposits/debris
The fuel pressure regulator could be allowing too much fuel pressure....but I think you already checked fuel pressure
Cheers

New Mexico sounds good!! I always liked that state and ventured often in my younger years. Ruidoso???
My brother is escounced in a campground in his motor home circa
Chamas. Old steam train fascinates him.

Yes my wife and I go every other year and stay in Santa Fe and Taos mainly but do travel all over the state. We have been doing it for about 20 years now. We love it and it is good for my asthma to get a break from the high humidity in Louisiana. Again thank for all your help...Jerry
