I have an 87 jag xj6 that I've owned for 20 years. My current issue is wipers that don't function. At first they did, lacked sufficient power. I had already replaced the stalk on the steering column and then disassembled the motor and found the brushes were practically non existent, then I tested the motor and it worked fine ! I installed a new park switch. I thought I was done (I hear Lucas laughter). I now have no power to the motor from the stalk. I checked the continuity from the motor to the stalk plug socket under the dash, All is well there. I've run out ideas. Can anyone help??? Is there a way to test the stalk on the column??
I just had the exact same issue. There is a ingition protection relay under dash that the wiper motor juice flows through. I had a spare and fixed problem. But I also took old one apartand cleaned and it works now too
Let me get more details as to location. Cant recall..
On left side under dash. Can get via access panel or take under dash piece off for mor room
Randy
Crude but you see this protection relay is before fuse 6 so everythung downstream loses power when this does not do its thing
