XJ12 S3 6.0 engine management upgrade project
Here it goes my friend car engine management system and ignition upgrade.
Car is Sovereign '86, but VIN plate tells '82. Engine has changed to 6.0l.
Thing is change ems and ignition.
Specs:
* ecu FreeDrive with custom loom
* VR6 (VW) waste spark coils with amplifiers 2 pcs
* Trigger: 60-2 to pulley with hall sensor
* injectors and rails would be change
* distributor took off and hole blocked
I'll attach pics when get some ready.

Why? Long way to go for performance offered. You will need two sets of coil packs and probably 2 EMS becasue few Engine Management systems can reliably run 12 injectors. To be successful this will require a high level of skill and knowledge and a person with that level and skill knowledge probably wouldnt bother with a project like this. 6.0 engine has different bolt pattern than 5.3 so trans wont bolt up. Will have to use the jag 4l80e with stand alone controller at great expense. Also separate EMS and TCM's generally offer poor driveabilty further making the project a boondoggle.
Sorry but will never happen. Anyone with the skill to do it would recognize the folly and probably swap in one of the myriad of domestic engines which weigh less, cost less and make much more power.
Now there's your motovation. Prove me wrong, get in that garage and spend 6 months and thousands of dollars on a motor that makes v6 power but weighs 3 times as much.

Funny, that engine is swapped in. Where I can confirm that engine is 6.0L and not 5.3L?
Now we aren't find huge power more. More effiency and driveability.
Coils are two as in my list. Ecu could drive 6 channel injectors and coils, so that isn't problem.
Tranny is "mechanical" and don't have controller.
I have assembled several ems, so I have some experience on that. But I think there comes some difficulties still.
All changes I'll make that I can come back, but this isn't option But let see how this would go and hope people helps when I have tough questions.
This would be daily driver in summers, but this is hobby to me.

It's alive! Some time has gone and many other side projects made.
Engine management system changed to MaxxEcu Street.
Now have to finish assembly and tune on chassis dyno.
Here some taste of mods.

I seem to see a lot of people on Megasquirt forums looking for help on making them work with Jaguar v12s, so your head could be swimming with a lot of sought-after information.
That conversion seems to have tidied up the engine bay quite a lot.

I have made Megasquirt assemblies about 10 years now. So this MaxxEcu is similar.
Nothing speacial needed to do for Maxx. Biggest problem to me was spark order to figure Jaguar style code. Later thinking it was quite straight way to do, because original ecu is own unit and then it is "easy" to swap.
