XJ6 LCA & bushings assembly
( hope I'm getting this in the right area...)
Bought some new bushing for an 86 XJ6.
How are the LCA & bushings assembled?
In other words, when the bushings are slid into the "rings" of the LCA, what gets them "registered"? They can slide fore or aft until the castle nut is tightened up, only then do they become fixed. Depending on where they are at to begin with, it will affect the caster does it not?
thanks, gatz

The couple times I've been thru this I found that the bushings did not "slide" into the LCAs at all.
They had to be *pressed* in.
I recall centering them....and equal amount of the bushing exposed on either side of the "ring" of the LCA.
Others, hopefully with better memory, will chime in
Cheers

gatz,
I've moved your thread from General Tech Help section to XJ6 & XJ12 Series I, II & III section. Members with the same model could miss it in the General section.

OK, thanks for the info Doug. I was able to get the new bushings into the LCA without much trouble at all. Used a 3/8 bolt, some washers and a "cup" to pull them in until they looked to be centered.
What really made it easy was using some silicone spray.
& Thanks Graham for moving the thread.
Here's another question...... actually just need to confirm. The wheelbase on an '86 XJ6....is it 108.75" ?
Thanks
