Default XJ6 S1 pulls left under acceleration

Hi all,

as the title says, my 350 Chevy-powered Series 1 XJ6 pulls left under acceleration.

I THINK the problem is soft front suspension assembly mounts, the V-shaped ones above the chassis rails in the front end. I reckon they're allowing the front suspension assembly to twist because of the engine's torque.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Are you able to tell me what fixed the problem for you?

I've had a decent search of these forums but couldn't find anything that related to this problem.

Thanks,

I'd suggest checking your rear suspension too. If the bushings are bad in the trailing arms you may find the torque is pulling one wheel forward.

Thanks for replying.

I replaced both large and small bushes in both of the rear trailing arms when getting the car on the road. Damn

It's the outer lower hub fulcrum bearings that cause the 'rear wheel steering'. I just replaced some on a 1993 XJ-S that would torque steer under hard accel or sudden decell. The bearings are 03062/03162.

Thanks Bob, I hadn't replaced the fulcrum bearings, thought they were OK. Will check that out.
