Default XJ6 series 1 fuel pump

The XJ6 series 1 fuel pump code is AZX1308? I dont know how to find the factory pump code, have a 4.2 from 1973 XJ6. There are two models, with negative earth and dual polarity, both have the same debit 68l/h anddiferent fuel pressure. Whats the proper factory code if anyone know? My car haven't the original pumps.

The only perciptible difference in the two pictured is that one is positive ground and the other is negativew ground

I am reasonably sure that your car is negative ground. confirm before acting.

It should provide enough fuel for your car.

All SU products were bought up by Burlen Services of Salisbury in Wiltshire (my home town) many years ago.

They have a factory where they make just about all parts for all SU products, carbs, fuel pumps etc. Also do Zenith & Stromberg parts.

HP Electric Fuel Pump - Dual Polarity - SU Carburetters

This is a link to the specific pump you quoted.

Burlen LTD Home page

This is thier home page.

I think the only difference in the positive and negative earth pumps is when they have been upgraded to solid state switching instead of the original contact points. Most pumps can be overhauled with a repair kit and this saves a lot compared to just swapping out the whole pump. the common probelms are pitted points and punctured diaphragms. There isn't much else to go wrong with them.

This repair kit is available at a fraction of the price of the whole pump: HP Fuel Pump Repair Kit - Negative Earth - SU Carburetters

Easy enough job to do for most home mechanics.
