It is really NOT that hard. 4 bolts, (Both sides of the Cat for both sides of the manifolds - 8 total.) the inside/aft (Behind the cat, and close to the engine) are a little tricky, but as long as they are not rusted too badly, they should come free. USE WD-40 or something similar. It will be loud as hell, but you will know in an hour if you have an exhaust issue or a fuel/timing problem. If the bolts wont come, strip them and/or break them - they are easily replaced, as well as the exhaust gaskets (Donuts) between the cat and the manifold.
I'll take that today after work and report back what I find.

Default I did all the tests and then replaced Cat = all is well

I did the temp test, the banging test and even bought the pressure
testing gauge. Still would not pass CA smog test, changed out the
Cats (was my first guess and should have just done it without all the drama of the testing = 122K miles - poor mileage and poor performance).

Then it passed the smog 100% and runs well now....

Did you have all of the same symptoms as my car?

Ok so I have not got my cat off yet because of the two bolts that are near impossible to remove. I pulled my distributer out today and replaced the diaphragm and I still have the same problem. I'm thinking it might have to be the cat because the entire spark system is new and I feel like I wouldn't be getting bad fuel miliage if it wasn't getting enough fuel. I get out of the military on the 30th and have to be able to drive this car home to Arizona as it is my daily driver or should be at least. So any more suggestions would be appreciated

Success!!!!! The cat was clogged. It revved like a actual car when I took it off. I fabbed a new Y pipe to replace it because I won't need to pass emissions anymore. Thank everyone for your expertise!

Cheers!
