1985 XJS Jaguar Fuel Injector problems
I am working to bring a 1985 Jaguar back to life. I am currently having fuel coming out of the air intake manifold, I believe this to be due to a failed injector allowing the gas to pour straight through the injector if that is possble. I would appreciate any advice as too what may be causing the fuel to flow. I would also appreciate any advice on where I can send the fuel rail and injectors to be reconditioned.

Is yours a 6 or V12 engine ?
Most fuel injectors can be cleaned on a special rig which uses cleaning fluid instead of petrol, some garages and most fuel injection specialists will have one. Some fuel injectors can even be dismantled and rebuilt, but you would have to enquire on the ones fitted by Jaguar. Remember they are the Bosch-developed item made under licence by Lucas of the UK. Apart from the individual injectors for each cylinder, there may be a cold start injector, (2 for a V12). This pumps out extra fuel to enrich at the start when you engage the starter and turn over the motor.
