1988 Brake Master Cylinder Brand Question
I am going to replace the brake master cylinder on my 1988 XJS and I have a question about the brands that are out there. I have found 3 brands TRW $146, Centric $179, and Beck Arnley $211. Is there any difference in the units? I do not mind spending the extra money if there is a need to do so but if they are of the same quality why spend the extra money?
I will also replace the fluid with DOT 4. I am also thinking of replacing the hoses at this time. Is there a hose kit or can I replace them with off the shelf hoses?
Is there anything else I will need to do at this time.
Thank you.

Unless someone chimes in with specifics I think it'll be a toss-up regarding the brands. Nowadays "label engineerng", world-wide manufacturing/distributng networks, and endless corporate buy-outs and mergers make it difficult to really know what you're getting, who made it, or where.
TRW is generally known for quality stuff (FWIW, as mentioned above) and is the cheapest. I'd go for that one.
Hoses should be available from any of the usual Jag suppliers, no problem.
How are your calipers?
Cheers
