1988 full throttle switch
I am sorting out a "garage find" early 1988 coupe.
No matter how I try I can't get the full throttle micro switch to adjust. I have tried 3 switches including the Jaguar part.
There is just no runout or cam action to the turntable surface...........has someone installed an earlier turntable on this car? It almost looks like the turntable is off 180* because there is a big flat spot on the other side.
Thanks!!

Wish I could help you, that is sure different than my 78. However, on the 78, the throttle rod from the left bank is toward the rear of the car, and the turntable does appear to be reversed from my car.
It does appear that your capstan is out of position.
When the throttle is closed the micro-switch roller should be on the flat area. As you advance towards WOT the switch will roll up on the round section.

I have the same situation on my '88. I noticed a while back that no turning of the capstan resulted in the activation of that switch and I too noticed the flat spot on the other side. Too weird to be a coincidence I figure. Hopefully someone else will chime in..
Thanks for all the replies. I disassembled the capstan and gave it 1/2 turn and now all is well. It looks like whoever installed a new
potentiometer did not get it right. I calibrated the potentiometer and am ready to move forward!
For others who might have the same problem, here are some pictures of how the capstan should be oriented (throttle closed);

The three terminal switch has two states, state 1 where the switch is closed (circuit completed) and state 2 (open circuit) when the switch is in the other position.
Attached are photos of my three-position switch wiring. Both the kick-down and full-throttle positions work as expected on my car. What I can't say if if you switches are configured the same way, so it's a good idea to meter them out. My car is an '87.
It might be a bit hard to tell in the second photo, but I'm hooked up to the center terminal and the terminal that is closest to the passenger compartment.
Thanks,
John
