Default 1989 Jaguar XJS Inline Radio Fuse Location

Hello,

I recently installed an aftermarket radio and it stopped working after a few days. After some research, it appears this is a pretty common issue and is due to a blown inline fuse.

I have taken out the ski slope and I am having a tough time locating the inline fuse. I read other posts describing it as a red wire that is infront of the cruise control switch but I am still not sure of the exact wire.

Does any one have a photo of what the inline fuse looks?

Hi Albertajag

The In-Line Fuse you are looking for is in the Back of the Cubby Hole that the Radio came out of

You may even find 'Two' if there was one that was still attached to the Wiring of the Radio Cage 'IF' you took that out?

But if you can only find 'One' that's good enough, although its right at the back of the 'Cubby Hole' as you will see from the Photo's

Nothing Special about it, as its a Standard 'Push and Twist' Holder, with a Fuse inside

You can see the 'Push and Twist' White Plastic In-Line Fuse Holder lurking right at the Back of the 'Cubby Hole'

Hey orange blossom,

Solved!

Always appreciate your help! I peered through the radio cubby hole and unfortunately did not see the inline fuse.

What I did instead was remove the console and retraced the wires beginning from the radio relay and was able to find the inline fuse.

The fuse was nowhere close to the ashtray or cruise control switch as documented by other forum users and repair manual. It was buried below the radio compartment !

I heard other forum members having success with a uprated 10A fuse. Again I appreciate your time and advice, the Jaguar will be back on the road shortly and with a new stereo system!

Hope this helps other Jaguar owners!

Regards,

Gary

Hi Gary

As long as you found it that is really the only thing that counts, maybe the P/O did some re-wiring in the past, as on both my XJS's the Fuse was inside that Recess/Cubby Hole

Good luck but I'm sure you won't need it, as you've got the hang of it now

All my Bullet Connectors were written in Japanese, so if you ever come across that Forum Member Someday Someday is your Go-To Guy!
