Daim,

Looks soo good. The plating and polishing really make a difference.
All it needs is a glass top and placed in your lounge.

Going to copy your cruise control rebuild.

When does the work on the transmission start?

Man it sure is pretty, I'm with Duke, it would make a beautiful coffee table, for the Man Cave. If you have one of those. It's unreal all the stuff it takes to make the V12 go. Man thats a lot of stuff on an engine. Just my thoughts.

I have all the parts, apart for the sump I want. But I will probably do that a bit different...

Thanks Jack. Wouldn't it be a waste of an engine to turn this really good engine into a coffee table? The stuff on the engine is even less than you Americans get - smog-pump-free, cat-free, O2-sensor-free V12. UK spec!

Norm was unwell so it held up the build. I've been busy repairing the front suspension again. I had a leaking Bilstein (only done 20,000km) and had to replace front wishbone bushes again. So while I was there I tidied up the new trans oil cooler lines and installed a new trans oil cooler. I do not like the oil cooler in the radiator, Jaguar put it on the hot side so it does nothing for cooling in our hot climate.

Yes it would be a waste. I just think it's a very pretty engine, worthy of being a show piece, less all the extras. And yes you are correct, we Americans get a lot of extra crap, all in the name of pollution control. Back in the early days of smog equipment, (70's) my father said a well tuned, maintained, engine would pollute far less then a neglected engine, with all the pollution crap. The sad part is there weren't enough people around who knew how to truly tune an engine. Now the computer does it, and as long as it functions properly, you have the best of both worlds. Power, Performance, and pollution control.

That is the only thing I'll be altering in the engine bay. An external oil cooler for the transmission, as the tranny is a tad on the undercooled side...

Emissions gubbins from back then has been proven to actually worsen the emissions, as it costs more fuel to operate it. I was easily able to achieve a 24 mpg figure on a run on my V12 non-cat UK market model. The befriended Germans here can't get over 15 mpg - no matter how carefully they drive. So it may reduce CO but that comes with a price of a lot more CO2... Modern systems are less restrictive so they are nore effective without costing extra fuel... VW shows how it works best!

Well Ron, even with less power, and looking pretty, it will still go (legally) faster than your XJ-S Roadster Don't know when you could last time legally reach it's Vmax

Anytime when it is running... Just pop over here, and we can deal with it on the Autobahn... Legally... Not under race track conditions. You offered, you ought to make the move

Btw., we don't have titles here

Btwa, **** comparissons are done under little kiddies, Ron. If you need to do that, then sorry. I am a little too old and don't use my car as a **** replacement...

Now Boys!

I'll have to throw my hat in the ring, as I believe mine when finished, might just give both of you, a run for the money??? Or titles, or pink slips, or what the heck ever they have on your side of the pond, Daim.
All in good fun, as I'd never take a man's ride. Just the satisfaction that mine "is" faster!

Jack

PS. My My My but aren't we "Cocky"

Today I was finally able to overhaul the ABS actuator. New rubber, new screws, all freshly bushed, checked electrics. Should now last another 30 years

So you found someone who can do that? And where did you get the kit with new seals, o-rings gaskets etc for the ABS MCyl? P/N?
