Just remember this stuff doesn't need gooping on like silicon sealer - the objective is only to improve contact and fill cracks - the thinner the layer to get good contact the better or it can work against you.

Just enough to fit between the two bolted together facing surfaces, squished out like an ice cream sandwich - excess (which wasn't much) wiped away... Can only be a thin layer...as far as I can tell.
