Trying to determine if this may be cause of fuel odor in trunk/boot -
Thanks,

The XJS is notorious for corrision, (rusting), on the hidden side of the fuel tank where it abuts the rear bulkhead. This eventually results in pin-holing and leakage of fuel. Only way to check is to heave the tank out and look !
Fraser's right about tank leaks.
But, yes, the lines do leak as well. And it need be more than just a trace of a leak. In the confines of a closed trunk even a tiny leak makes a big smell.
A tip I learned was to wrap all hose/pipe joints with colored tissue paper. Even a tiny seep will stain the paper, reveling the leak.
You'll probably have to remove all the trunk carpet for a thorough cleaning. it really holds the odor even after you find and fix the leaks.
Cheers

ThQ, Fraser and Doug -
I'll try that tissue paper trick. I have about half the carpet out and it's still not clear if this was something spilled or a leak or what.
Of course, I'd love to avoid pulling the tank, but am fed up with the situation.
Still a relatively new purchase and I believe I can go back at the dealer to recoup some cost if tank does need out -
I'll check back with anything I learn,
Thanks again -
