1992 XJS A/C amplifier
My mechanic tells me the A/C amplifier has failed. Does anyone know where I'd get a replacement or someone who can rebuild my broken one?
Thanks,
Stephen

Do you know what the gizmo does? If so, please help me out. I've never heard of an A/C amp
I didn't think the 1992's had an amp. That's part of the Delanaire Mark 2 system, and the XJS got the electronic Mark 3 system in mid 87. That has an ECU, rather than the previous system. The Mark 2 is more electro-mechanical, while the Mark 3 is electronic.
The Climate Control ECU is item #1 in this illustration

I think you'll need DAC11341 for a 1992 car but I'm not sure of the VIN/year breaks. The other possible part numbers are listed. Anyhow, Google the part number with the word "Jaguar" and see what comes up!

The amplifier (Mk II systems) or the ECU (Mk III systems) is, in essence, the 'brain' of the climate control.

Yes, I could not find one that didn't cost a million bucks... I had a problem with the brain/amplifier/ECU not sending a strong enough signal to the AC relay to engage the relay... Now that I'm thinking about it better/hindsight maybe the damn climate control temperature button (I am STILL unsure whether the bitton pressed in or OUT is manual vs auto) was not in the "manual" position, but the auto. If in auto it wouldn't send a signal, maybe... Working from memory, the lead from the ECU/amplifier was to communicate with the dial,,, which was connected to the AC relay - didn't work... So, I hard wired the relay to a toggle switch (my only toggle I always add, lol)...
Anywho... Thanks again.

Pulling out the temp knob on the Delainaire mark III puts it into full cold manual. You have a D III in your car. In auto, if working correctly, the system will maintain the temp selected automatically.
