Hi all,
I would kindly like to know for this 1992 XJS 4.0 which rear differential is fitted in order to replace the appropriate oil
open differential or limited slip ?
thank you
James
James, this photo shows what the handbook says (from my 1992 4.0 XJS). I think it means only refill with Shell Spirax Super 90, which is no longer available. I don’t know what to recommend and hope another forum member can advise. Another page in the handbook says a refill takes 1.6L.
There's nothing exotic about the Jag diff. I'd feel comfortable using any name brand GL5 80/90 gear oil. As far as I know all the usual suspects offer a GL5 that's formulated for limited slip diffs and will say so right on the container. Or buy a standard GL5 80/90 and use a limited slip additive.
