Default 1992 XJS V12 Odometer stopped working

Hello. The odometer and trip odometer on my XJS stopped working. The speedometer works and the trip computer works. I pulled out the instrument cluster, lubricated the odometer and cleaned the electrical connections. Still no luck. Any suggestions?

From your description, it sounds like the internal gear is at fault. They are plastic and can crack with age.

Not sure where you are located, but if you have a speedometer shop nearby they can either fix it or provide the proper plastic gear. If you don't have one locally, you can contact Palo Alto Speedometer and they should be able to help.

I don't think it's a mechanical problem, because the odometer turns correctly if I manually turn the primary gear.

What is this electrical component and is it possible that it has failed? Is there a way to test it?

This is an old post and it is exactly what I tried to ask in a very recent post but no replies, and as it describes my situation better than my post, I am reviving it in the hope of a reply
I know this is the motor that drives the odo meter but I dont know how to test it. I am worried if I give it current it might burn or something.
Did anyone face/resolve this issue before?
My speedo works but not the ODO where as on the computer it is working ok, and my car is a 1992 XJS V12.

Any suggestions please ??

Cheers
