I have seen conflicting information that some of the US spec AJ16 models have electric cooling fans whereas others have the fan mounted on the water pump pulley cone. My is on the pump. But looking for replacement water pump and most of the ones I am finding don't have the bolt holes on the front for the fan to attach. Unless these listings are all using the wrong photos? The XJS pump is identical for the XJ6 engine water pump with the fan bolts being the only difference.
So does anyone here have definite info as to whether the XJS late models came with electric fans from the factory?

 

All XJSs left the factory with an engine driven main fan. V12s have an electric auxiliary fan mounted next to the engine driven fan. All the 6 cylinder cars also had auxiliary fans, some at least, if not all, being mounted in front of the radiator as a "pusher".

 

As Greg says, all AJ16 XJS have the same fan setup with the main fan being a viscous unit mounted on the pump pulley. See Jaguar's website here for fan units:
