Wrong forum, but are you sure the fuel pump works?

I've moved your question from General Tech Help to XJS forum. This is the place to post technical questions about your model.

Is the fuel pump running? it should run for a few seconds when you turn the ignition on.

The fuel feed pipe runs under the car on the RH side, someone jacking the car up under the sill could crush the pipe. easy to check.

Ensure you have flow at each junction between tank and pump. Possibly a clogged predicted screen in the sump tank.

As Warrjon says fuel pump should run for a couple of seconds to prime and pressurise fuel rail when ignition is initially turned on, it can usually be heard. It is worth checking this, failure can be due to a faulty fuel pump relay.

When engine is turning over either during starting or when running the fuel pump is energised by relay under control of Lucas fuel ECU provided ECU receives signals from crank position sensors
