Any help would be appreciated. My 1994 Xjs convertible idles fair (small miss), however , it will not accel with a load. It revs up with no load and sounds smooth as a sewing machine, but put it in gear and try to accel falls on its face. will move if you do not touch accelerator. It has new temp censor, new fuel filter, and throttle position censor.

Which Motor?

If it is the V12 then it probably has one of the coils out causing it to run as a 6 cyl. It will behave as you described but it is very dangerous to drive as it will more than likely catch fire from what I have read.

 

check your TPS. ive had a mitsubishi do the same thing because it would only read idle and WOT

 

Thanks, it has the 6cyl. Arrrrrrg!! this is my first Jag. Father-in-law gave it to me after sitting for 5-6 yrs.
