Default 1995 xjs L4 2+2 Conv trunk light switch?

I am unable to find a reference to my latest quest. Just where is the trunk light switch?? I've read that it could be on or near the hinges.
I was all over the trunk area today and was not able to locate this rascal. There are two lamps that appear to be in good working order.
The bulbs are good and the grounds are good, just not getting any power. I've read that they may only work when the low beams are on.
No joy there either. Also looked for a mercury switch on the lid...
Thanks in advance. Steve

Default Trunk courtesy lights update

The switch seems to be part of the latch mechanism. Can anyone confirm this? - Steve

I looked on my car and could not find a switch either. The parts list says it is the same switch as is used for the doors, but I certainly can't find it. The trunk lights come on whenever the trunk is opened.

It's part of the "Rube Goldberg" trunk latch mechanism. You can see it in the picture below it's the black switch stamped "9508"

It's one of the biggest causes of annoying battery drain. My suggestion? Pull the wires and just tape them up.

Thanks for the sage advice Paul. I've decided to abandon the trunk lamp project. I have several flashlights, one of which should serve that purpose.
While exploring the trunk release I found the "mr fixit" below ...
Can someone explain what is missing belongs in place of the nail??
Steve
