Default 2002 TC shudder

New to the forum and looking for advice.

My 02 XJS has developed a slight shudder. It's more predominant at mid speeds (30-50mph). The dealership ran the codes today and said the TC was faulty and would need to replace entire trany... $8000+

I said your insane and got on here haha. I love this car and am fairly handy w a wrench so I intend to repair it myself.

I plan to re-pull the codes myself, if my buddies reader contains the correct software, so that I know exactly what it's showing.

Has anyone else experienced this w the xjs/xj8's? I don't think the trans needs to be rebuilt, it shift perfectly. So I'm planning to replace the TC only at this time. Thoughts?

Thank you for reading, I'll post codes asap

OK, welcome to the real world of motoring.

I reckon some clarification will be needed.

An '02 XJ-S does not exist. Last build was 1997.

Maybe an XJ8, XK8, or S Type, etc.

Once clarified I suggest a repost in the relevant section so as to maximise responses.

Ah I see, yeah I realized my mistake today. I didn't realize there was an XJS previously and that it is NOT the same as my XJ SPORT haha my apologies
