Default 3.6 fuel pump PLEASE HELP :-/

I’m in the process of restoring my 1990 3.6. Auto. The fuel pump is not whirring/priming. What can I do to trouble shoot this? I’ve looked in my manual for the location of the relay. It says it’s on the right side of the boot. However it’s definitely not there...please help as the electrical side of things can be very stressful for me 🤦*♂️

Hi Krakenfelt

Are you Sure that the Fuel Pump Relay is not in the Boot/Trunk and while I don't know where it is on the 3.6 on a V12 The Fuel Pump Relay is behind a Plastic Flap just by the side of the Boot/Trunk support strut (see photo)

The One in the Red Holder with the Red Stripe is the Main Relay and the one in the Black Holder is the Fuel Pump Relay and although they may look the same, they are NOT interchangeable

Have you tried putting 12 volts directly on the Fuel Pump to see if it works?

This is a pic I found. but if it is theres a black metal panel where you think the relay should be, look behind it. The panel might be bolted to the rear quarter but you can stick a camera or your head and get a view of 2-3 relays. This is what you might see. Right side of the boot, remove the carpeting molds btw

Hi Krakenfelt

This is where the Fuel Pump Relay is located on my 1995 XJS 4.0L (Facelift) same as that Photo from Brewtech, so you should be able to find it in one of those Two Locations

As on the 1990 Pre-Facelift it is usually found behind that Plastic Flap

In the following Photo, where the Fuel Pump Relay is tucked underneath the Fender/Wing, the Silver one is the Fuel Pump Relay, in between those two Blue ones

I’ve solved it... it turns out the polarity of a cable coupler for the fuel cable, that I had disconnected when fitting a new radiator, was the wrong way around. It’s located near the middle of the top of the radiator area FYI. Thanks everyone for your help!
