Default Instrument Cluster Trim R&R ???

Is there a secret trick to remove and reinstall the two black plastic trim pieces that go around the Instrument Cluster??? I have a 1990 XJS V12. I thought I was going to break them when I took them out... now I have to put them back.

Thanks

Hi Lgreen

This could be your lucky day, as I also have a 1990 V12 and had to take the Speedo Binnacle out of my Car last year, with a little help from the GF! or maybe that could be the other way round

Anyway taking out the Binnacle is a 10 minute job, although you do need to be careful and use a round nose dinner knife to help to slide those plastic pieces out

And then when it comes to putting them back, put the bottom edge in first which goes between the 'Furry Trim' and the little plastic strip on top (obviously keeping it very tight to the Left or Right of the Binnacle)

Depending on which side of it you are doing

Then as soon as you've got the bottom piece located, you can then fold it back in position and secure it with its screw

Basically just the opposite of the way that you removed it

If you want to read the 'Saga' of how I took the Speedo Binnacle out, when the Speedo Stopped working

You can read all about it here, together with loads of Photo's, which hopefully might help you or someone else

Thanks for the tip... I did remove and replace the old fabric on them while I had them off. Looks much better.

Thanks Again.
