Default 5 Speed Help

After trying and failing to get on this form for almost 18 months, I think I have access!!!!

I have collected a list of needs but will start with one and go from there;

I recently purchased a '94 XJS 2+2 4.0l Conv (with 5 speed trans), and agree that it does drive very differently from my other auto trans XJS (both '94, so 3 in total).

After about a month of fun, changing all fluids, belts, hoses, plugs and wires, etc, and looking for why some things are not working, the clutch peddle went to the floor. At first it would pump up, after I pull the pedal back from the floor, but kept getting worse. The pedal would either go soft or to the floor, but would not engage the through out so that I could shift. No loss of fluid so I am thinking an oil seal has failed.

Discussions with local Jag dealer and JaguarBits, ended up with no one having a rebuild kit (or complete replacements) for the clutch master and slave cylinders.

An help would be appreciated.

Is it Original Jag?
It might be a modification from previous owner/s, if so find out what the gearbox is and go from there.
Good luck

The VIN confirms original 5 speed from factory, and based on the number (193528), the dealer says I need part CBC9742 for the master cylinder, but it is not available.

He and other parts suppliers had parts (including a rebuild kit) for earlier VIN units, but nothing found for my vehicle.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks Katoh:

When I tried to buy, it said discontinued, but I will call tomorrow morning and see if it may still be available. Hopefully they will have something, and only being 80 miles from me would work out great.

Also Try Creamers of Kensington in London, they have lots of NOS parts.

If all else fails there are outfits that'll rebuild any hydraulic cylinder out there.

Here's one well known rebuilder:

Apple Hydraulics

I reckon that have a vast supply of pistons, seals, etc. I'll wager there's nothing exotic about the stuff Jag used

Cheers

Greg
Exactly what Doug has said is another good option and well worth the ethort to explore. Another way is if you are machincally minded, pull down the cylinder, just be careful not to handle the parts with bare hands (Wear Gloves/ Use Rags) and remove the seals, go to your local engineering shop and simply find the same size ones and replace them. A lot of these seals are universal.
If you are not to confident go with option A and see someone with experience in dealing with hydraulic equipment, be it earthmoving, marine or general engineering its all the same principle.
