'77 xjs 5.3 V12 only starting when cold
pat,
As a fellow pre-HE owner, I'm interested in any mods that you're making. A few questions if you don't mind:
- Is the "Weber FBR" that you mention, a fuel pressure regulator? Where in that picture have you installed it?
- Has the hot start problem now been cured by this Weber FBR mod?
Tks
Paul

Look at the "jaguar" badge left lower corner, follow the 2 electric wires down, the FPR is seen between the wires.
Sorry, I meant to spell "FPR", for some unbeknownst reason this satanic invention of device called "SMARTphone" is ever so often throwing in autocorrects...
So yes, I am talking about the fuel pressure regulator. I have corrected the spelling in the meantime, I understand that it would only cause more confusion leaving it...
Yes, I experienced no hotstart issues after the modification, and I did extensive testing for about an hour or so.
As you can see, the FPR (!) is located very near where the hardpipe ends so I needed only a short bend of approximately 10cm of the braided hose to connect. I have considered making up a bracket but in the meantime the tiestrap will do.
I am aware of that the purists would sneer at this - but all I can say is: it works!

The Weber has a hexagon screw on top, an Allen Key does the job. I did the procedure as described above in #38 and I am quite happy with the result.
Pat,
Just a suggestion from a looooong way away.
Those OE FPR's are prone to leaking externally. Couple of guys here had that happen out of the blue. One got waaaay too close to an engine fire according to him. The actual wording would get me banned, but you know them.
Leave the OE where they are, but I would remove the fuel supply going via them.
