Default V12 "Popping" When Cold

I've had the car running for some time now after it had been sitting untouched for several years before I bought it. I cleaned the carbs before restarting it. They were very clean, and didn't take much work. I didn't change any settings. what I want to correct is a hesitation and "popping" when I press the gas peddle after starting the car from cold. After my initial run, if I leave the car for a while the restart again without choke, the problem is still there, but intermittently, and otherwise, the engine is running very smoothly.
Can anyone suggest what the cause of the hesitation could be?

Did you take the carbs all the way apart to clean? Sounds like a clogged jet of some kind or perhaps a vacuum leak. Ignition is electronic if I recall but perhaps an timing advance issue.
Vague I know but...good luck.

Hi, new to the forum and several years late to respond. From what I've been reading, it could be the carb dampers. Check their oil level.

It seems to be too lean when cold.

Thanks. I'll check them the next time I'm at the car.

Thanks. I'll try adjusting the mixture.

Yes, sounds like the car is running lean when cold. I had a TR6 with a similar issue. Enriching the mixture resolved the issue.

Goodluck & keep us posted.

I haven't had chance to adjust the mixture yet, as I've had gearbox trouble recently. I'll post again once I've got it fixed. Thanks.
