Default 88 XJS WOT switch

The Wide Open Throttle (aka enrichment) switch on my 88 XJS broke so I got a new one. However the new one has 3 terminals while the old one had two so it can be connected so that it is either normally open or normally closed. The old switch is too broken for me to tell what it was.

So, my question is: Is the switch supposed to be normally closed or open? The service manual doesn't even mention the switch.

mmxjs88,
Open is my understanding also. I replaced my switch a couple of days ago and hooked it normally open, it was three prong instead of the two I took off. Haven't tested it yet.

Just did this the other day to my kickdown switch... they are identical...

Normally open.

I bought mine from Grainger's... was $4 or so...

Found my Grainger's receipt. If anyone is looking for a replacement wide open throttle or kickdown switch in the future (they seem to deteriorate and fall to pieces over time), the Grainger's item number is 6A885. Lever arm is straight, but marked on the arm at the point to apply the bend. Will require you to put the kink in.

Cheers,

Will
