just spent an hour writing a thread got lost in the etha am just trying this before i do it again

It's annoying when that happens. Now I compose my messages in a text editor, then copy paste them into the forum.

Yeah. I just highlight all of the text and hit ctrl + c. That way if it gets lost I just try again and paste it back in the new message.
