OK. This instruction is there to stop amateurs from separating the two halves and then using "Jo Noname" bolts to fix them together again. The bolts used are normally special high tensile material and designed to be used once and once only. If you have a source of bolts of the required specification, and have the torquing instructions then go ahead, otherwise leave alone. For calipers with an internal fluid passage across the two halves, there is normally also an 'O' ring seal and this should always be replaced at the same time. If it was me, I would try to find a place that does a service exchange for your calipers. I did this when rebuilding the rear subframe on an XJ6 around 1996.

Hi Neil
I was going to hone my front calipers due to the amount of rust on the pistons. I was told by a guy who does Jag brakes under NO circumstances hone the calipers they WILL leak.
He advised me to use fine wet and dry sand paper wet and lightly go over the area that is effected.
I have seen Jaguar caliper bolts on eBay.
