Default 89xjs the saga continues..

I think I'm almost there. I got the fuel all cleaned up and put in a new fuel filter. With great anticipation I tried to start it. I shot it with starting fluid and it would run for 3-4 seconds. I repeated the process several times with the same result. Frustrated I walked away. Convinced that its not getting fuel I got to looking at the Electrical diagram and checked to see if I had voltage to the injectors with key in the #2 position. I've got 12v on all the injectors. So I put a wire in the 8 pin connector for the injection harness on the ORG/BL wire and intermittently grounded that wire and I heard the injectors clicking. I repeated the process on the B bank. I tried to start the engine and it started without starting fluid but only run for a few seconds. I'm convinced the injectors are not functioning. Is it the ECU or am I missing a input to the ECU to make the injector circuit function? Bad ground???? What's the function of the power resistors?? You help is appreciated.

the injectors fire by the ecu grounding each bank of 3 at a time , the injectors have a live feed , and each bank goes to one circuit through the power resistor ,

injectors are fired alltogether as below
A bank 1 , 3 ,5
B bank 1 , 3, 5
A bank 2 , 4 ,6
B bank 2 , 4 , 6

so , if the power resistor has failed, none of the injectors will fire , but its unusual for all 4 circuits to fail ,

ensure the loom plugs are secure , and that the power resistor plug is good

also , is the fuel pump in the boot priming and running for at least ten seconds in ignition position 2 / if not then you have no fuel getting through

good luck

Check the wire from the distributor that plugs into the engine harness. That ignition signal to the ECU is needed for the fuel injection to function.

I've checked the power resister and there is 5.3 ohms on each circuit. I don't know if that's right but they are all the same. I also cleaned the connector the best I can and it seems tight. AS far as the distributor wire to the ECU? There were only two wires coming from the distributor from the magnetic pick-up and a shield and they both went to the amplifier. I got this car as is and I can not trust the wiring that was there. Can you clarify the input that your describing? I do believe it is something simple that's being missed. Any information on the wiring of the distributor and amplifier would help. Thanks in advance.

have you checked the plug in the Fuel injection ecu in the boot ?

this is mounted on the right of the battery and is the other side of the buttress brace in the boot, the long plug can come unplugged and pop out leaving you with no FI ,

worth a check

this unit also takes a vacuum from the manifold in a flexible pipe to the FI ECU
