Yes, it fits in a cutout at the end of part 2. You can just see the cutout, its grooved and l guess has to be flexible for the shaft to slide in and out of it. It seems only to have been fitted for a couple of years.....wonder why lol
I second JayJagJay. Fish paper? Never heard of the stuff. Until now.
For reference for Doug and others, here's a close-up photo of my old (failed) grommet in situ.
At this stage, it was almost completely split into front and back parts, so completely failed in its mission of preventing the rod from sliding through.
And a photo of how the whole thing works.
Parts of the facelift cruise control. Much simpler and smaller than the old one.
Actually that part should be nylon.
I think I was able to find a replacement at my local hardware store.
Phenolic would be even better.
I even think I have some in my spares bin.
Interesting equiprx, where did you see that ? I've had my car from new and its always been the same part and same problem with it ! It melts after a couple of years.
Unfortunately, Nylon is subject to damage from heat.
That's why I recommend replacing it with Phenolic.
Whenever I decommission an instrument, I remove any parts I think I might need.
I don't have a Jaguar anymore so I don't have an example to measure.
If you send me the measurements, I will peruse my parts bins to see what I have.
