93 jag. New owner love this car
I bought this 93 xjs conv. 4.0 last fall, knowing it was going to need some work, but was told it was drivable. It was drivable for about 20 minutes and then the rear inboard brakes/emergency brakes, started on fire. Thankfully it had just snowedin Chicago, so I was able to put the fire out by throwing snow on it.
Anyways, I used the midwest winter months to pull the rear diff. and replace or repair every part back there. Plus installed front Spax shock and new tie rods, brakes calipers, etc., you get the picture. The under carriage is completely redone.
So even though I've owned the Jag for almost a year, within the last week, it was the first time I was able to really drive it and I must say, it was worth the wait. For an almost 30 year old car, this car runs better then my newer cars. I own several other cars, Benz sl, TR8, MGB, etc and this car appears to be the best driving car of them all. Not the fastest, but very exciting.
I only hope the reliability factor doesn't cause me to loss my enjoyment of this Jag. At this time, everything that needs to work, does, even though I have to hit the dash every so often to get the ground wire to kick in and let my guages work.
I've really only been driving it for a week, but "Oh what a thrill", only time will tell on the long term excitment.
