Default 95 XJS 4.0L oxygen sensor problem

can anyone help, how can i test to see which oxygen sensor is giving me a problem, the car failed smog test its a US spec 1995 4.0l convertible, the car is running rich. HC count was high and the CO high as well

here are the codes i scaned off the OBD2. I see 4 sensors on the car, each one has 4 wires going to them, yellow, red, white and black, and the Bosch sensors are about $130 a piece, so naturally i would like to pinpoint which one is malfunctioning, and i have seen the universal ones for $40 a piece does anyone have experience with using these O2 sensors, or are they just crap.

P0139 - HO2S Slow Response Bank 1 Sensor 2
P0411 - Secondary Air Injection Incorrect Upstream Flow Detected
P0420 - Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 1)

thanx

Default Would Process of elimination work?

I had a similar problem on mY Dodge Dakota. Bank 1/2 refered to driver or passenger and Sensor 1/2 refererred to before/after catalytic convertor.

My truck was ordered and purchased in Idaho so it did not jave the California somg specs, hence there was only one sensor per bank.

If it is sensor 2, my guess it is the one after the catalytic convertor. these things screw in like a spark plug and should only take a few minutes to change.

Perphaps try the following:
Buy a new sensor, replace the one driver side after the catalytic convertor and see if fixes the problem. If it was the offending sensor, you'll notice a change in performance right away. If not put the old one back and try it on the other side.

These sensors are not that sophisiticted. They screw in on one end and have a plug at the other. I read somewhere that they can be cleaned with carb cleaner-- I never tried this! Hope this helps

Default process of elimination -- Rev 2

I took moment and looked at my 4.0 Liter engine Being astraigh six, all the exhaust pipes are on one side (passenger). there is one sensor in front of the cat and another after.

I'll bet Bnak 1 is cylinders 1-3 and Bank 2 is cylinders 4-6. I'd venture that sensor 1 is befoer the cat and sensor 2 is after. The sensors seem reasonable to reach and replace

I went through heck and high water to solve this on my Dakota. I'd like to know if you solve this problem with your Jag. Hope I helped a bit
