95 XJS V12 wheel questions
Hiya fellas. I'm a new lucky (?) owner of a 95 XJS V12 droptop. Does anyone know what the original rim finish on these cars was? My car does not have the original rims and I am looking to put it back to stock. Were the originals chromed or not? I do believe the V12 rims were different from the straight 6 vehicles. There were some long ago taken pictures included with the car which showed it with chrome rims that looked stock, but I don't know if a prior owner had the long lost original rims chromed or not.
Thanks and I look forward to contributing however I can!

If you got to RockAuto.com, look up wheels for your model and engine and you will find the two wheels that were offered.
Neither came from the factory as chromed.
There's the five spoke model, that my 1996 XJS came with, and another 20-hole rim that I've seen on other 1995 models with 6 cylinder engines.
I like the look of both those wheels. There's yet another wheel I have only seen on 95 & 96 6 cylinder models, but I didn't bother to see if RockAuto carried them.
(You can also Google "1995 Jaguar XJS V12 Wheels" and it will come up too)

Thanks for the input, more digging to do?
Vee - Thanks for the reply, actually rockauto.com is what prompted the question. I am fairly sure that 6 cylinder models came with the 5 spoke and that V12s came with the 20 spoke, but I am not entirely sure. They offer the 20 spoke rim in brushed and chrome.
Spike - Perhaps the old photos with the chrome 20 spoke rims are original after all. Thanks for the tip, I will head to jaglovers to see what the brochure turns up!
If anybody else has some input, please chime in!

It really boils down to which one do you prefer. To answwr your question: The 5 spoke came in the following finishes diamond turned (this is a polished aluminum with a clear coat), silver powder coat, diamond spokes with gold powdercoat accent, and I have seen chrome ones (I am not 100% sure if these were done by a dealer/oem/etc...). The 20 spoke came in diamond turn and silver, i hve also seen them in chrome. However these were also fitted to the x300 (95-97 xj6 VDP and xj12) which have a different offset than the ones fitted to the xjs. Both of these wheels are 7 in wide. I know the ones fitted to x300 xj6/12 had an offset of 33 mm. The ones for the xjs would be slightly less, cant remember exactly.
And by the way you can get them refinished in whatever color your heart desires... Please don't get too radical.
Between the two the 5 spoke I believe looks more sporty while the 20 spoke is more grand touring esque, but that is my opinion. But as I said earlier it all really boils down to which ones you like, as many people swap there originally installed jaguar wheels to a jaguar wheel off of another jag.
For example I have a set of 16x8 lattice wheels for the xjs which came off of a 94 xj12, a set of 15 x 6.5 lattice wheels from my xjs and 15x 7 Dayton wire wheels for my 86 xj6 (depends on my mood). I have 15x 6 kents on the 85 xj6 and a set of 16x7 kiwi wheels off o a 94 xj12 just lying around. These all have the same bolt pattern but different offsets.
